Star Clippers operates three of the world's largest, tallest and fastest sailing vessels. The largest of these, the Royal Clipper, has the most spacious cabins, as well as the only balconies, and a higher level of services for the upper category cabins.

The nautical-theme cabins, while compact and efficient in design, are comfortable. With the exception of dinner, meals are served buffet-style; typically there are stations for egg preparation at breakfast and various dishes for lunch..

Star Clippers is best for:

Singles, couples and families (with older children) who are looking for an authentic sailing experience in comfortable surroundings;
Well-traveled adults who value a unique and fun experience over the comforts and luxuries available on the yacht-like vessels;
Physically fit, energetic mature adults who can manage stairs, board tenders, etc.

The atmosphere and experience onboard Star Clippers:

The ambiance recalls the sailing ships of old, but with comforts unknown to the sailors who crossed the seas in bygone days. The nostalgic decor features antique prints and paintings of famous sailing ships, teak, gleaming mahogany rails and polished brass.
As is the case on the yacht-like ships, the atmosphere is fun, relaxed and informal. Passengers socialize with one another, especially when the crew comes up with games and competitions. While there is no rigid dress code, shorts and T-shirts are not permitted in the dining room at night and passengers are encouraged to choose business-casual wear in the evening. The rest of the time, shorts and T-shirts are fine.
As the ship attracts international travelers, the atmosphere is more European than on similar vessels. Announcements are made in English, German and French and the Euro is the onboard currency.

The clientele of Star Clippers:

As the sailing experience is more active than other types of cruises, you'll find a mix of ages and nationalities on any given cruise - any combination of Americans and Europeans (generally Brits and Germans). Safe to say, the passengers are active and physically fit, with average age about 50+. Many know how to sail and many are repeat guests.
