Around the World Via Cruise Ship: Experience Penguin Colonies, Fishing in The Amazon, and Riding a Camel All On One Voyage
DETROIT, MI (November 4, 2010) –World cruises: those that circumnavigate the globe, are an adventure designed for those wanting a unique experience - one that truly broadens a person's perspective of our diverse and dynamic planet.
“World cruises generally attract very experienced, adventuresome travelers – those who want to experience the planet's cultural diversity and greatest landmarks in an up-close and personal way.” says CruiseCompete CEO Bob Levinstein.
Guests on a world cruise typically spend 90 or more days at sea (but the cruises range from 30 to 150-plus days at sea) and visit a multitude of exotic cities and port destinations on several continents. As such, variety is indeed the operative word for these voyages. Travelers may be lie on a beach in Mexico during one segment of the voyage, and watch penguin colonies on a remote frozen island on another. Or, cruisers may be shopping along the waterfront in New Zealand, fishing in the Amazon, walking through the bustling streets of Shanghai and then riding a camel in the Arabian Desert.
These trips are nothing like your typical cruise vacation that lasts a week or two and is packed with non-stop, scheduled activities. On a world cruise, time seems to stand still and passengers have the luxury of experiencing the world in slow motion. In fact, many guests step off the ship in a port stop, decide they want to stay longer to explore, and then rejoin the ship at a port later on the cruise.
The cost of a world cruise varies according to the length of the cruise and the line that you are traveling with. For example, Seabourn’s World Voyage of Sydney , Australia to Singapore, sailing February 6, 2011, and lasting 34 Days, is currently priced at $36,800. Cunard’s 103-day New York Round Trip , sailing January 13, 2011, can run approximately $ 77,925, and Regent Seven Seas offers a 162-night cruise , Ft Lauderdale to London, departing December 27, 2010, that’s currently priced at $84,999.
For those people who do not have the time to experience a world cruise, the cruise lines also offer these voyages in “segments”, shorter trips that usually range from 14-28 days. In doing so, the cruise lines open up these unique adventures to a greater number of travelers, who may use these cruises as a “trial run” for a much longer full world cruise.
