CruiseCompete Offers a Peek at the Itineraries and Shore Excursions of a British Isles Cruise Vacation
DETROIT (October 20, 2016) – With lively cities, spectacular scenery and a rich historical and cultural background, there’s no doubt that a voyage to the British Isles offers the very best that a cruise vacation has to offer. From the breathtaking Cliffs of Dover, to the Crown Jewels of Edinburgh Castle and the immaculate gardens of Henry VII Hampton Court Palace, there are countless travel treasures in Britain, Ireland and Scotland.
Take a panoramic drive through rugged and glorious landscapes, have tea and shortbread in quaint villages steeped in history and culture, or visit a pub in Dublin, where Guinness has a history dating back to the 1700’s.

All this- and more- is possible on a British Isles cruise- and the fantastic shore excursions that can be found along the way. These cruises are limited, however, and generally only available from May through August, so now is the time to book for 2017!

Here is a sampling of the many wonderful shore excursions to be had on a British Isles Cruise:
Wonders of Wicklow Mountains
Absorb the tall tales and legends of Glencree Valley and the famous Sally Gap. Soak up the breathtaking Wicklow mountain scenery and rolling green countryside at locations made famous by movies such as Braveheart, P.S. I Love You, and Vikings.
The stunning scenery of the route includes Glencree Valley, a photo stop at the Guinness Lakes, the bog lands and heather fields of the Sally gap and Glendalough. Situated in the heart of the Wicklow Mountains, the 10th century monastic round tower settlement in Glendalough is the jewel in the crown of the Wicklow Mountains Tour. Offering up leisurely (or more challenging) walkways to the lower and upper lakes, Glendalough is a must for any visit to Ireland.
Price: $42.00

Private Walking Tour: Edinburgh
The tour begins at Usher Hall, gifted to Edinburgh and Scotland by Stuart Usherï¾’s family. Stuart presents his extensive knowledge of Edinburgh’s history, architecture, and famous citizens in an informative, enjoyable, and humorous manner.
Visit the famous Royal Mile and other sites while Stuart keeps you amused and entertained with stories of famous characters associated with Edinburgh. Enjoy anecdotes about characters such as the great historical romance author, Sir Walter Scott; inventor of the telephone, Alexander Graham Bell; creator of Sherlock Holmes, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle; writer of the original Jekyll and Hyde, Robert Louis Stevenson; and Deacon Brodie.
Price: $282.00

Private Taste of Dublin, A Taste of Guinness

The history of Guinness, although not quite as old as the cities, dates back to the mid-1700s and certainly has been an influence on some of the city’s history. At one point, 1 out of every 30 citizens worked for Guinness. In addition, the Guinness family was involved in housing and food programs, early employee benefits including medical treatment, the refurbishing of St Patrick’s Cathedral in 1860, donated a public park for the city (St Stephen's Green) so it would be hard to find many locals who have not been effected by the Guinness presence somehow.
Price: Starting at $190.00/person
