CRUISECOMPETE.COM SAYS ACTIVE TRAVELERS NOW ENJOYING ADRENALINE RUSHES AT SEA

DES MOINES, Iowa, March 23, 2006 - Believe it or not, a cruise may be the ideal vacation for people who consider exhilarating whitewater, race car driving or rappelling down the side of a mountain as fun. "Relaxation may take precedence at sea but, once docked, a growing number of cruisers with active lifestyles are getting their adrenaline pumping," said Bob Levinstein, CEO of CruiseCompete.com, the world's only competitive cruise pricing Web site, which highlights a number of adventure cruises. "They want to experience way more than the local beach or a traditional bus tour and the cruise lines are accommodating them."

The following is a sampling of the excursions now offered by the cruise industry for active travelers:

· Carnival Cruise Lines offers travelers to Belize a sightseeing adventure that combines cave tubing with rain forest exploration. Guests tube down the Sibun River amidst cave and rock formations, plus trek through the Belizean jungle on a 45-minute hike.

· Celebrity Cruises takes guests to the tops of St. Martin's 200 year-old mango and mahogany trees via a course of zip lines, rope swings and bridges suspended from bridges in the middle of one of the largest bird habitats in the Caribbean.

· Crystal Cruises puts travelers who consider themselves driving purists behind the wheel of a Formula 1 race car in Monaco, with both on- and off-course instruction.

· MSC Cruises welcomes certified divers to explore the coral reef off of Roatan Island, near the northern coast of Honduras. This reef is the location of a number of historical shipwrecks and is now a spectacular location for an encounter with possible black tip, bull and silver sharks.

· Cunard Line takes its Queen Mary 2 guests on whitewater rafting excursions through the picturesque Chilean fjords from Puerto Mont. The descent on the 12-mile long Petrohue River includes breathtaking South American waterfalls, forests, mountains and even volcanoes.

· Norwegian Cruise Line travelers can take heli-hike adventures on Maui. Guests fly over the Hana rainforest to Haleakala, the world's largest dormant volcano. There, they land and ascend the volcano slopes to the crater's summit.

· Royal Caribbean International offers Klondike rock climbing and rappelling on the walls and cliffs of the White Pass near Skagway, Alaska. A short hike takes guests to the foot of the cliffs, covered by glaciers. Climbers of all skill levels, including beginners, are welcome.

"The demographics of cruise travelers are changing - we see many more bookings coming in from people ages 30-40," said Steven Gelfuso, president of CruiseBrothers.com, one of the largest family-owned cruise-only travel agencies in the country. "Consequently, the cruise lines are reinventing themselves and doing a creative job of trying to accommodate their active lifestyles and interests. Who would have ever thought a while back that cruisers would have the opportunity to swim with sharks, zip through rain forest canopies or drive a race car?"
