Beautiful and historic city, May 7, 2017
Reviewer: Splinter

Pros: Much to do in Oslo

Cons: The weather

Oslo, the capital of Norway, has much to offer related to museums, galleries, good restaurants, and nice parks. The Oslo Pass is a good deal if you will be here more than 24 hours, as it gives you free public transportation and pretty much all museums for one price. Good public transportation between the buses, ferries, trolleys, and subway. Things to do include the Vigeland Sculpture Park (in Frogner Park), the Munch Museum, and the National Gallery for art, the Opera House and City Hall for architecture, and the Nobel Peace Center. Historic places and museums I can recommend include the Akershus Fortress and the Norwegian (WWII) Resistance Museum, and all of the museums on the Bygdy peninsula (take a ferry or the #30 bus) including the Norwegian Folk/Cultural Museum, Kon-Tiki Museum, Viking Ship Museum, and the Fram/Polar Exploration Museum.

Beautiful from the moment you enter the port!, September 5, 2010
Reviewer: sbrm5

Pros: The port has character as it is not an industrial area as are many ot the others

Cons: Nothing is negative here

Oslo is gorgeous from the moment you sail in and see the beautiful port -- the fortress walls and the green surrounding areas. The sights are lovely and varied. The Holkollmen ski slope, newly erected, is awesome. The view from the ski site takes your breath away. The winding roads are lovely as are the homes you pass, many with grass on the roofs. The Vigeland Sculpture Park is like nothing you've ever seen. The sculptures are alive with character and sensitivity in their emotions. They really appear to connect with each other. The Open Air Museum in Oslo is also worth a visit. It gives you a sense of the past and the roots of the people. By all means do visit Oslo as it has a beautiful character unlike the other Scandinavian cities we visited on this cruise.
