Good value, with well traveled mature guests, April 12, 2015
Reviewer: DMJoyal

Pros: Crew and staff were excellent; food in buffet was above average

Cons: Ship has seen better days, needs upgrades; nightly entertainment was awful

Date of cruise: February 26, 2015

Departure port: Papeete

Region visited: South Pacific/Australia

Cabin category: Outside

Good for children: No

Good for teenagers: No

I love the small ships and variety of port visits: however, Ocean did not spend one overnight in any port. Once in port, we were often rushed (6 hours) to visit cities and sights. Ship excursions are expensive and catered to a more sedate guest (wheelchair/handicapped). Go online and book your own when possible. Nightly entertainment and shows focused on the over 70s crowd. I love the oldies--but a Cole Porter review (the cast performance was excellent) and comics that told jokes older than my granny! Even the old folks didn't laugh. No one was in the casino or lounges after 9 p.m. Ship is tired-looking -- curtains stained, carpet worn. I used spa services twice -- expect to pay at least three times what you would at home. Food in dining room and buffet was excellent! I splurged on dinner at the Chefs Table (for an additional $100) it was amazing. Drink packages were expensive. I even had to pay for soda. Crew and Staff were outstanding. The Crew dancers and performers pull double duty (as performers and crew staff) and go above and beyond to get cruisers involved in events. For cruises over 15 days you can expect a more mature crowd -- do not expect all the activities of larger ships --a nd for gods sake do not bring children on this cruise (there is nothing for them to do).

This was our first cruise ever. It went above and beyond all our expectations., August 17, 2013

The dining room atmosphere was wonderful. The service was friendly and the food consistently delicious. We felt pampered by the staff. The Panorama buffet always had a variety of food and huge windows to view the ocean. We loved the balcony of the large size cabin and the cabin had plenty of storage room. We also appreciated the small size of the ship because it never seemed crowded. The staff was friendly, whether day or night. All personnel at the passenger service desk were extremely helpful and informative. The lectures were fascinating. We thought the Princess Patter (a flyer distributed nightly) provided helpful information about ship events and port information. It also provided background information about the captain and other staff members of the ship. We will definitely choose Ocean Princess again for our next cruise.

Great ship, great overall experience, December 23, 2010

Pros: Small ship, get to meet almost everyone, guest lectures fantastic

Cons: With a small ship there are fewer choices, cabaret instead of theater

Everyone on board worked to make our onboard experience a memorable one. Traditional ship design, less glitz, more old world charm. Very ample size cabins, we had a balcony which we enjoyed daily, having our morning coffee. Don't expect the large atrium and fancy curved staircase. This is a magnificent small (650 pax) ship. Enjoy the luxury hardwoods and inlaid dance floors. No movies under the stars, but fine entertainment in a more intimate environment. This ship sails to many exotic ports. Much more for the adventurous than the party hardy type of cruiser. You can party if you choose, but you will be in the minority. We enjoyed every day on board as well as each day ashore. We have sailed on her thrice and will sail on her again.

The Ocean Princess was a "little" dream come true. The dining room staff was superb and were right there to assist. Vasco, our maitre d', was outstanding. The head chef was a delight and really catered to the guests. While in Asia, the excursions were extremely interesting and educational. Our guides were very informative. We've told every one of our friends what a phenomonal time we had and are so looking forward to our next cruise with Princess. The crew kept the ship in great condition at all times. Our accommodations were top notch and the service was extraordinary. I could go on and on about the virtues of Princess Cruise Lines, but I think I've said it all. Hopefully, we'll be setting sail again in the very near future.
