Ship is small and caters to a mature clientele. Food in the main dining room is excellent. Service is great. The cost of tours was ridiculous. We paid 60 euros total for two people for entry and taxi to caves, the ship was charging $129 per person! Paid 25 euros total for 2 people for transportation to town, ship was charging $109 per person! It was nuts. Food and service are better than most big ships, but the price is three times the bigger ships and the entertainment was poor to nonexistent.

We are very frequent cruisers but this was our first trip with Oceania. We chose it mainly for the itinerary, as Oceania tends to have more port-intensive trips. The price was almost triple what we pay on Princess, Holland America, and other cruise lines but it included soft drinks and dining in the specialty restaurants. The service was excellent, the food was good, the ship was very comfortable, and we enjoyed the small ship experience. The enrichment lectures were very enjoyable and informative. We liked the country club casual atmosphere ... no formal nights! We felt the staff did everything they could to ensure we had an enjoyable cruise. Oceania caters to a mature, very well-traveled clientele and there were no children on our trip, nor were there special programs for children had there been any so although we enjoyed ourselves, we would not choose Oceania for an intergenerational family trip. We would have liked more entertainment options in the evening. We like to listen to different types of music and there was only one music option that fit our time schedule between dinner and the evening show and it was always the same. The guest entertainers were good but we would have preferred more of them instead of showing movies in the evening. The shore excursions were extremely overpriced. We were able to arrange private tours in advance for a fraction of the cost of a ship excursions. Although it took a lot of effort to do so, we were glad we did as we were able to get private tours for the two of us for less than the price for one person on a ship tour. Overall we were very satisfied with our cruise and will probably travel with Oceania again, but only when they have a unique itinerary unavailable elsewhere. Oceania is an upscale line and provides a fine experience for its guests.

Yes, we would do it again if we found the right itinerary. As independent travelers we prefer to make our own arrangements and allow for spontaneity (and, hopefully, serendipity) to enrich our experiences. We are not frequent cruisers because we think of the experience as a bit too scripted. Cruising's appeal for us is convenience. We unpack once and bring our accommodations with us. So, we were reluctant to sign on to a 25-day cruise that put a large hole in our travel budget. Now that we've done it we have no regrets -- are even more open to doing it again, especially with Oceania. We liked Naitica's size. She was small enough to dock near the center of Bangkok, yet large enough to offer a decent wine cellar and a couple of specialty restaurants. Though we didn't get to know all 600+ passengers, we met scores and came to recognize many more. Our cabin (stateroom?) was larger than most and comfortable. We lacked a balcony but got extra interior room instead which, given the equatorial climate, was probably just as well. Bed was comfortable, bathroom about the size of the one in our RV (functional but tight). Our cabin attendant was very efficient and perfectly delightful -- we thoroughly enjoyed her company. We knew Oceania had a reputation for good food. We can confirm that it is well deserved. The Grand Dining Room offered a rotating menu and an opportunity to sit at shared table and meet new people in a convivial atmosphere. Almost every morning we enjoyed breakfast at the self-serve buffet in Terrace Cafe where we could eat a wide variety of foods from fresh fruit, ship-baked breads and cereals to eggs fixed several different ways. We also had opportunity to reserve tables (limit 2 times each) at two specialty restaurants -- Toscana and Polo Grill. These more intimate venues provided an upscale restaurant ambience and excellent service with set, themed menus. While the food was all very good, we especially enjoyed the innovation and variety in the Dining Room and Terrace Cafe. We saw only a sample of the entertainment but what we saw was professional and enjoyable. The educational lectures by retired Coast Guard Commander Don Campbell were informative and entertainingly delivered and as were the outstanding slide presentations and talks by Travel Photographer Peter Guttman.

We had a fantastic time on our 14-night cruise on the Nautica. One of the things that really stood out was the ship's staff really seemed to enjoy their jobs and were happy and friendly with us and each other. They were just incredible - nothing was too much trouble and the attention to detail was amazing. The food was excellent in all restaurants and the complimentary soft drinks and juices throughout the ship and in our room bar fridge was greatly appreciated. The Nautica had a personal service feel about it rather than the feeling you were just another guest.
