The Trollfjord has been redecorated since my 2015 trip, but this ship which is both a freighter, day ferry, and cruise ship was well laid out, with plenty of seating in the Vista lounge to see the passing scenery (which is really the point of taking these Coastal Voyages). I actually did not miss the usual cruise ship "amenities" of a showroom, casino, art sales, bingo, etc. Quick port talk every evening before dinner in the main bar was very helpful, and provided in Norwegian, English, German, and French. I had an inside cabin which was fine for sleeping, bathing, and changing clothes; and was not claustrophobic. Did miss having a bridge cam or current weather available on the TV though to know how to dress for the day. Wifi service was free and worked most of the cruise with a few brief exceptions. The room is only serviced once daily instead of the twice or more often on regular cruise ships, but it was fine for me. No refrigerator or safe in cabin. Bar staff were happy to provide you with a glass of ice when requested for your own drinks in your room. Food service includes extensive buffet for breakfast and lunch with open seating, and a set 3-course meal with assigned seating for dinner. The food was excellent; often locally sourced. If you want food between meals, there is a snack bar where you can pay for additional food, but I never used this. I never used the (additional charge) specialty restaurant either. Crew friendly and helpful. Shore excursions are expensive and limited to only a few ports, but you can enjoy a coastal cruise without taking any of these extras. Educational and fun events included an on-deck parade for Norway's National Day (May 17) with many crew in traditional costumes, cod fishing demonstration, small marine biology display out of Kirkenes, and of course an Arctic Circle ceremony. A couple of educational films were also shown, which could have been improved. Self-service laundry is available with purchased token from front desk; a plus for those on longer journeys.
