We bought both pre and post land packages. My advice is do not do it. They did not show up at the airport to pick us up in Athens, and there was no reservation for us at the hotel, and so it took several hours to get to the hotel and checked in. This is not something you want to do after traveling for 20 hours. No one from Windstar even appologized or explained what happened. We had paid Windstar for the package about 45 days earlier and it was much more expensive than if we booked it ourselves. Their attitude was that stuff happens. Only because we called our travel agent in the US did we finally get a tour guide to show up at our hotel the next day. On top of all that the tour guide was not very good. Food on Windstar was okay, but if the ship's dining room was a resturant we would never go back for dinner. People who say the food is great must not go out to decent resturants very often. However, breakfasts and lunches were good. Wine selection was good. Overall service was excellent. The staff was friendly and helpful. The internet access was horrible. Do not count on reliable internet service. It was not available in several places and very, very slow; more like dialup. I wish they had been honest about the internet quality in the beginning. The tour guides for the day trips were a mixed bag. A couple were excellent and a couple were bad. One night we had considerable engine or thruster noise in our cabin for several hours. You could hardly hear the TV and it was difficult to sleep. Strange, this happened only one night. We were on the upper deck in the stern. When we go on another curise, we will try another cruise line. Overall, Winstar is okay, but not great.
