Overall, sailing with Windstar was a wonderful experience that we can recommend wholeheartedly. We love the small ship cruising experience where one receives personalized service and gets to know both passengers and crew - but the yacht style sailing of Windstar added a whole new dimension to that. We traveled with our daughter in her early 20's, and all of us were the youngest on board, but that made no difference - everyone was pleasant and fun. Having an open bridge policy was really interesting as we were able to watch our course each evening. And having the sails hoisted to Vangelis each time we left a port was magical. There were also plenty of onboard activities for the day at sea, and the excursions/tour guides to the beautiful areas of Costa Rica were excellent. If I were to compare the experience to other small vessels, I would say it ranks very well. The passengers and food might be somewhat more sophisticated on lines such as Silversea and Seven Seas, but really that was not something that diminished our enjoyment.
