Ship was gorgeous. Crew was grouchy, food was salty, July 6, 2015
Reviewer: Sara319

Pros: So clean & well maintained. Not crowded at all. Ice Bar was the best!

Cons: Biggest con is the staff. Worst bar service & entertainment needs to step it up

Overall this ship is a must cruise! The kids loved it so much I rarely saw them. The ropes course and slides were the best. We loved the rock wall, even though it was only open a few hours a day. That was strange. Our cabin with a balcony was one of the best we have been on. The bed so comfortable and bathroom was very roomy. The food was unforgiving however. So very salty and by day 7 our tongues were burning from so much salt. Stick to the specialty restaurants if you can wing it. The food is better when you pay for it on board. The main dining room had great entertainment every night. While you were eating they would sing and dance. Which was fantastic because dinner literally took two hours every single night. Not sure why this was. Embark and disembark was a total mess. Our kids had a different room one deck below us. Because of that they had to go into a different terminal and we missed our family embarkation photo. Not happy about that. I collect those. The other photos came out great and very pretty. They do not offer 5X7 though. Who needs 10 8X10 photos of themselves? Disembarkation was this: "Ok everyone...Go!" It was very difficult to find luggage among five different colors and people looking for theirs in huge warehouses. The Getaway's casino is literally on one whole floor. It extends beyond the small cruise ship casinos you are used to. We don't gamble, but if you do, there is NO shortage of tables and slot machines to entertain you. I have never seen such a large casino on a cruise ship before (kind of a waste of a lot of space imho). One of the highlights of this ship is the Ice Bar. We did it twice. Just to say we hung in there for the full 30 minutes. We really had a blast in there! We saw Legally Blonde and I fell asleep. So I will go by what our kids said about the show. "It wasn't good". The other shows we saw were fine. The fireworks on the port side were awesome! The bars outside were where we hung out most often. The bartenders seemed to be nicer out there. They even tried to talk to us and entertain us, but overall NCL needs to get involved here. Most of the bartenders we ran across were downright rude and could not be bothered to help us. The bright side? We saved a lot of money! ;)

The Breakaway is a beautiful ship. Embarkation for me was easy with status in Latitudes and the casino. With so many people on board, the muster drill and disembarkation can be a lengthy process, but that can't be changed. There were so many places for people to enjoy, I didn't feel crowded any time during the cruise. It seemed as though half the cruisers enjoyed the pools and water park and the other half enjoyed the interior of the ship. I enjoyed the food on board, whether it was in the free restaurants, specialty restaurants, the buffet, and even in O'Sheehans. Having sinks inside the buffet and casino were especially nice to keep your hands clean. There was a small problem with my room at the front of the ship. While overlooking the helipad and the crew's break area, there were some unidentifiable noises. After 2 days, I politely asked Guest Services if they could figure out the types of noises being heard. After being unable to do so, they graciously moved me to a mid-ship balcony for the remainder of the cruise. Excellent Customer Service. The Ice Bar is a DON'T MISS!!! What fun ~ I hope you enjoy the ship and cruise as much as I did.
