Pros: Nothing really postive about this city as a port of call

If Jakarta is a port stop then you're best to stay on the ship. Having lived in Jakarta for several years I can tell you that it has nothing really to see - remains of the Dutch colonial rule in terms of architecture or history are non-existent. Guidebooks will tell you the port is interesting to see for all the old ships, but it's not interesting at all. And trying to get anywhere in town from the port is a nightmare because of the horrendous traffic. In my opinion I would avoid Jakarta as a port stop. Tell the captain to head to Bali!
