A good place to visit, November 18, 2016
Reviewer: capri3

Pros: A wonderful sunny day

Cons: NOthing really

We took a tour of the city on an amphibious bus that was really fun. We saw many things and then sailed in the ocean where we saw underwater wrecks and fed the fish. Our tour guide was very good. We got a drink a 7 mile beach which was beautiful. After the tour we stopped at Margaritaville for guacamole and a drink. All in all a fun place to visit.

Stingray City was AWESOME!, January 6, 2014
Reviewer: centex_mojo

Pros: In the ocean, kissing WILD stingrays ... the BEST!

Cons: No cons!

We went with Captain Marvin...they took great care of us. There were two snorkeling stops as well...but interacting with the stingrays was the absolute best. For only $50, we got a DVD of 65 pictures (I have 4 kids)..family and individual of us with the stingrays - during the excursion. WORTH EVERY PENNY! We also snorkeled twice - water was crystal clear blue everywhere we went. It was GREAT. I had a disposable underwater camera -- but the ones from Captain Marvin's guy are my favorite pictures of the entire cruise.

Great clean island. Great beach, March 10, 2013
Reviewer: sacleland

Pros: We loved the beach and I loved the shopping

Cons: None

My husband loves this port the most in the Caribbean. The beach at Cemetery Beach is lovely white sand (you do walk through the cemetery, but I thought that was great!). The snorkeling is not the greatest but the water is clear and there are some small fish. Very sandy beach. The town is touristy but then where is it not? The shopping was fine, good quality at some very nice European stores. Very clean community. Sadly our last cruise to this port did not dock due to rough weather and the ship could not tender. My husband traded his "captain's" ballcap for some nice silver jewelry for me!!

Amazing experience if you plan an excursion snorkeling or to stingray sandbar, January 4, 2013
Reviewer: dragonladyd1

Pros: Beautiful weather, water and people

Cons: Port is very touristy

This was my favorite port from my cruise due to the excursion through Capt Marvin's! Upon exiting my cruise ship, I went directly to the check in and we were off to our adventure snorkeling and swimming with the stingrays at the sand bar. The water is amazingly clear and beautiful and everyone who I spoke with was very nice. Back at the port we strolled around but it was very "tourist-y" and expensive.

Not a good stop if you're not committed to an excursion, August 27, 2010
Reviewer: tamfam

Pros: The island people are quite friendly and eager to help.

Cons: Without an excursion, the stop is somewhat dull. Shopping is uninspired

While in the past I have LOVED Grand Cayman, this time we chose to walk off the boat and not plan an excursion. Bad idea. Our friends, who had booked a scuba trip and a swim with the dolphins loved this stop. The best tours sell out early so be sure to book an excursion or stay on the ship.

Fun day in the Sun...watch out for the rocks!, July 19, 2010
Reviewer: aduran

Pros: The island is small so we got to see the highlights in just a couple of hours.

Cons: It is expensive and the beaches not the greatest

We booked an excursion through our cruise ship and we took a jeep around the island to Hell, the Rum Cake store, and the beach. I thoroughly enjoyed driving in a foreign country on the "wrong" side of the road and the sites were great. Our tour guide was a funny little Jamaican named David. He even took us on a little bit of a true off road experience. I enjoyed driving around Cayman but I was disappointed in our experience at the beach. I think that we were at Tiki beach and while the sand and sun were nice the beach is located along a coral deposit. It was impossible to wade out into the water without being cut by the coral. If you are a good swimmer, it is possible to swim out about 100 yards to bluer water but I got so frustrated after being cut by the coral that I gave up about 1/4 of the way out. Also, the day that we were there the water had a lot of seaweed that mostly ended up stuck in my swimsuit. The amenities at this beach were nice but the food and drink expensive.
