Explorer of the Seas

The Ship. Built in 2000, the Explorer of the Seas is a member of the Voyager class of cruise ships. At about 137,000 tons, she carries approximately 3,100 passengers, and features a wide variety of amenities and entertainment options. Cruisers can expect a mega-cruise-ship experience.

Dining. The Explorer of the Seas offers a variety of dining options. The main dining room offers both traditional assigned times and seatings, as well My Time Dining where cruisers can pick their dining time and change their reservations daily. In addition to the Lido Deck buffets, diners can also make reservations for Portofino, which serves upscale Italian food for an additional fee. Casual dining and snacks are also available at Johnny Rockets and Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream. Free room service is also available most of the day (with a small charge during the wee hours).

Daytime Activities. A vast range of activities are available on the Explorer of the Seas. These include an ice rink, miniature golf and a rock-climbing wall. The ship features four salt-water pools (including one indoor pool just for adults and one for kids - the Adventure Beach Kids pool) as well as six hot tubs. Duty-free shopping is available onboard, as are other entertaining activities and get-togethers throughout the day. An Internet cafe and Wi-Fi are available as well.

Spa and Fitness. The full-service Vitality at Sea Spa features saunas and steam rooms, and a fine selection of spa treatments, including couples massage suites and individual treatment rooms. All of the basic massages and treatments are offered, plus more-exotic procedures including 24-karat gold facials, Botox injections, acupuncture and teeth whitening. Sports and exercise opportunities include a full-sized basketball court, and a running and inline-skating track. The fitness center includes a large gym with cardio and resistance equipment; as well as group fitness classes, including cycling, kickboxing, yoga and Pilates.

Nighttime Entertainment. Explorer of the Seas offers plenty of nightlife. Cuisers can attend ice skating shows, standup comedy shows and Broadway-style theater. Bars, lounges and dance clubs feature varied styles of music. Voyagers can try their luck at the ship's large casino when the ship is at sea. Poker games and tournaments are also staged throughout each voyage.

Kids

Royal Caribbean's kids programs provide fun and learning for children from babies to teens.

Royal Babies and Royal Tots are 45-minute interactive playgroup sessions developed by early childhood experts at Fisher-Price.

The complimentary, award-winning Adventure Ocean Youth Program is let led by accredited, experienced counselors with four-year degrees in education, recreation or a related field. Onboard, kids aren't just kids. They're scientists exploring the insect world, eye-patched pirates, or the next great athlete to take the gold at the Wacky Olympics. With interactive programs and activities designed just for their age group, Adventure Ocean gives kids the chance to imagine themselves embarking on a whole new adventure.

Teens and Twens
The teen and tween program (12-14 and 14-17) isn't a structured set of classes or rules - these almost adults deserve a vacation all their own. Kids can join pre-planned events throughout the day or simply hang out in teen-only spaces - with Adventure Ocean staff who keep the good times coming. Activities include rock climbing, dodgeball, video game tournaments, barbecues, movie nights, talent shows and even a DJ Academy.

Kids and teens can enjoy activities into the late evening with extended hours in the Adventure Ocean and teen-only spaces. An hourly rate applies after 10 p.m.
