Beautiful place but shops close all afternoon, November 6, 2010

We took a morning excursion and arrived back in Brindisi after lunch. We expected to tour the town during the afternoon and found that all the shops (except restaurants) and churches were closed until 4:30 or 5:00. Our cruise ship left port at 4:30 so we didn't leave any of our Euros at this town. If you are able to visit in the morning, there are several old churches to visit and the town itself is quite beautiful. Our 40-minute trip to the interior town of Lecce was well worth the trip. It is full of beautiful Italian architecture. Such a surprise in the middle of a city!
