We visited this island while on a Princess cruise. It was soooo beautiful and the natives were so friendly. We went snorkeling and the water was so clear and fish abundant you felt like you were swimming in an aquarium. The people were so friendly and were anxious to treat you to a native fruit or drink. They didn't seem to know they were living in paradice. Of course, this is all about bringing back tourists but it did seem genuine. However, the cost to stay in Bora Bora if not on a ship is quite expensive, about $400 a night at the local over-the-water resort, and is difficult to get to. All in all, we had a great time and would recommend it at least once in a lifetime. Would recommend the snorkel experience and the swim with the local manta rays.
